This Crew went on to 7 season missions exploring the galaxy and making diplomatic contact with different alien species. Q, played by John de Lancie, is a omnipotent being who repeatedly puts the crew of the Enterprise to the test. He is arrogant and mischievous, but has a strange sense of respect for Captain Picard.

Guinan, played by Whoopi Goldberg, is a member of an enigmatic species known as the El-Aurians. She runs the ship's bar, Ten Forward, and acts as a confidante and advisor to Captain Picard and the crew.

The Borg, is a cyborg race that is the primary antagonist of the series. They are a collective of drones who seek to assimilate all other life forms into their collective. They were one of the most dangerous and powerful foes the crew of the Enterprise ever faced.

The Next Generation crew also dealt with complex social issues such as genetic engineering, prejudice, and the morality of artificial intelligence, and also explored the nature of humanity, the role of the individual in a collective society, and the consequences of technological advancement.
